Predicting 14-day average temperatures across 514 US locations using climate and atmospheric data. The LightGBM model cuts RMSE by 90% against the NMME ensemble baseline.
How it knows: The 90% RMSE reduction is measured against the NMME physics-based ensemble, the baseline meteorologists use, and not against a null model.
